at first, i equivocated it with that cliche of
"touristy americana".
"old car museum." alright, a model t maybe? i expected a packard... an old f100.
to its credit, the museum held its fair share of unexpected surprises. i was
honored by the presence of the ubiquitous citroen 2cv, a fine example of a
citroen ds, and a diorama of an old triumph roadster at the drive in.
willys-overland jeeps flanked by v16 cadillacs would be reason enough to take
that first step and begin the journey. however, what makes this museum an auto
enthusiast's mecca is also what put me into a state of utter shock and
disbelief.
there were 349 toyota 2000gts produced worldwide. only 50 made it to the united
states.
to this day, the 2000gt remains japan's first, most significant, and most
overbearing supercar.
a flawless example calls every enthusiast by name, and it sits in this humble
"old car museum".
